When Michelangelo was asked how he sculpted an angel, he responded, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
I like to think that God does the same with us. He sees the person inside of us, created in his own image, and he carves and works and sculpts until he sets that person free. We’re all, as St. Paul said, being conformed to his own image (Romans 8:29), the image that was once distorted but now being restored.
We always get excited when we hear Gods voice. “Its a miracle!” some people say. But if you think about it, God is ALWAYS speaking to us. Always trying to communicate with us and get our attention. The ACTUAL miracle is when we finally listen and respond.
Prayer is difficult because we live in an age of instant gratification.
